The Ultimate Fighter 7 – Season Recap
Season 7 of the hit reality show, The Ultimate Fighter, debuted in April of this year and featured fighters in the middleweight category. Like previous seasons, the initial cast is split into 2 opposing teams, battling their way to a lucrative UFC contract. Team Rampage is led by Quinton Jackson, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Leading Team Forrest is Forrest Griffin, the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
Episodes 1 and 2 are spent deciding which 16 of the 32 fighters will win a place in the communal house. In Episode 3, with the fighters picked, Team Forrest sends Jesse Taylor into the ring to fight Mike Dolce. Taylor emerges victorious and Team Rampage loses its first fighter.
In Episode 4, Team Forrest continues to lurch ahead as Tim Credeur defeats Matt Riddle with an armbar. During Episode 5, Dante Rivera is selected to fight Team Rampage’s Brandon Sene. The fight goes to decision and Sene is eliminated. Team Forrest continues their winning streak in Episode 6 when Matt Brown knocks out his opponent, Jeremy May, during the first round. However, during the same episode, Luke Zachrich is picked to fight Team Rampage’s Dan Cramer. Zachrich loses and Team Forrest suffers its first loss.
Episode 7 also features 2 fights. The first, between Gerald Harris of Team Rampage and Amir Sadollah ends with Harris being eliminated. In the second fight, Cale Yarbrough from Team Forrest evens the score by defeating Patrick Schultz. During the next episode, C.B. Dollaway from Team Rampage is matched up with Nick Klein. Dollaway defeats Klein with a guillotine choke.
2 more fights take place during Episode 9 as Taylor eliminates Rivera and Sadollah defeats Brown. The communal house becomes damaged by several of the fighters in Episode 10, but UFC President Dana White isn’t concerned. By the episode’s end, Credeur has beaten Cramer and Dollaway has eliminated Yarbrough. Episode 11 begins with a game of Horse between the coaches. Griffin, an adept basketball player, wins. By the end, Taylor has entered the ring and dismisses Credeur.
At the beginning of Episode 12, Sadollah submits Dollaway. Taylor is thrown off the cast by White for poor behavior in public. Dollaway is asked to replace him. By the end of the season finale, Sadollah eliminates Dollaway and advances to an exciting career in the UFC.
