Mac Danzig
Mac Danzig – Pursuing MMA Success
Mac Danzig has collected a number of titles since climbing into the Octagon for his inaugural fight in 2001. During his first year on the circuit, he was the Extreme Trials Eastern Regional Champion and National Champion. In the years since, he has earned the title of King of the Cage Lightweight World Champion and the Gladiator Challenge Lightweight World Champion. Danzig has also dominated his opponents on the way to becoming the title holder for the Lightweight Extreme Challenge Trials. Finally, in 2007, he became a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter (Season 6) and advanced to the end to win the final bout.
Though Danzig didn’t enter the cage until 2001, he began training in 1994 after observing a live event. He fell in love with the sport and dedicated himself to earning a living in the UFC. Over the last several years, he has become proficient in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, developing his grappling skills. His hard work and devotion have earned him 10 submission victories. Danzig has also trained diligently to become a skilled boxer, adding an impressive striking ability to his repertoire. His favorite strike is a devastating left hook to the body.
Despite his list of accomplishments and titles, his early career had only mixed success. Danzig’s first 7 fights resulted in 4 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. He was determined to succeed in MMA, but was buffeted by personal doubts. Fortunately, he was on the cusp of a winning streak.
After defeating his next 4 adversaries, Danzig was approached by the fighting organization, King of the Cage. They offered him a contract and he joined their ranks. He added another 8 victories before leaving to fight for PRIDE. After competing in only 1 bout with PRIDE, Danzig joined The Ultimate Fighter cast in Season 6. By the end of the season, he had secured the UFC contract that he had dreamed about for years.
While fighting in the UFC is Danzig’s main passion, he has other interests outside the cage. He sells his own photography online and pursues a strict vegan diet while training in Las Vegas. But, these interests don’t distract him from his main career. Calling Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (the oldest Middleweight World Champion in history) his hero, Danzig is single-minded in his pursuit of MMA success.
